Bishop's Appeal for Diocesan Ministries
The Bishop’s Appeal for Diocesan Ministries is an important appeal which supports various pastoral initiatives around the diocese. Some of the ministries supported by this appeal are:
- Outreach to youth and young adults including YCS in schools
- Parish mission renewal – formation and planning
- Promotion of Social Justice and Cultural Diversity in our Community
- Vocations to the priesthood or consecrated life
- Catholic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ministry
- Vital Chaplaincy services to prisons and hospitals
- Ecumenical and interfaith initiatives
- Marriage ministry and Tribunal services
These can only continue to flourish with the generosity of the church community.
Clergy Foundation Appeal
They have cared for us…now we can care for them.
Retired priests rely on the Diocese to fund a very basic lifestyle. Over their lifetime of service – often 50 plus years – they selflessly cared for us all in many ways and when the time comes for them to retire, due to age or ill-health, they have a right to live in dignity and security.
