Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

Baptism

Baptisms are held every Sunday except the 5th Sunday of the month at 11.30am at the Ryan Community Centre.
Baptism Preparation Nights are usually on the 4th Wednesday of the month commencing at 7.30pm in the Meeting Rooms at the Ryan Community Centre.  Phone parish office to confirm meeting dates.

Weddings

Weddings are performed in the Ryan Community Centre or Good Shepherd Community Centre after meeting and consultation with the Parish Priest.

Funerals

Funerals are performed at both Centres or wherever the family request after consultation with the Priest and the funeral directors.  

Parish Life and Ministry

Sacramental Program - Reconciliation/First Communion/Confirmation

A family based program is held within the Region. This starts with an Information/Enrolment night held early February each year. Families are put into small groups and meet once a week for 3 weeks for Eucharist and Confirmation. The parents do the Reconciliation program at home with their children.

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

This is offered in the parish - the course normally begins about September and goes through to Easter the following year when people are received into the church at the Easter vigil.   Those interested should contact the parish office.

SCRIPTURE GROUPS  

 A number of scripture groups run in the parish - Little Rock, Cafe.

CHARISMATIC GROUP

The Townsville Catholic Charismatic group "Yona Shalom" meet every Sunday night at the Ryan Community Centre at 7.00 PM in rooms 1.2.3.     They also run a number of weekend Seminars.  Contact the parish office for more details. Alternatively visit the Yona Shalom website here 

Community Centres

The Ministerial Region of the Good Shepherd has at its core 2  Community Centres - The Ryan Community Centre at  Morindo Drive, Kirwan and the Good Shepherd Community Centre at Allambie Lane, Rasmussen.   Each of these centres are equipped with small chapels where the Eucharist is reserved and are available for private prayer and reflection.     The Community Centres are available for hire to all kinds of community groups. Everything within the centres are on wheels and easily moveable. Many civic functions along with meetings of school, sporting and community groups use our buildings day and night. Five air-conditioned meeting rooms are available for hire at the Ryan Community Centre.
