Northern Region On its website Ozcare describes itself as "... a leading non-profit organisation that provides a wide range of Community and Health Services. These services are available to all members of the community. Consistent with Christian values these services are delivered compassionately and professionally." Ozcare was for a time known as St Vincent's Community Services as it originated in an initiative of the Queensland State Council of the St Vincent de Paul Society. The following is a media release from Ozcare in 2003 when the name change was implemented: ONLY THE NAME HAS CHANGED ...Changing our name to Ozcare is in recognition of how the ideals and philosophy of the Blessed Frederic Ozanam founder of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, has influenced and guided the organisation to experience such success over these past six and half years. This is reflected in the high esteem in which the organisation is regarded within the community. On reflection the ideals and philosophy of the Blessed Frederic Ozanam are clearly alive and visible within the organisation today. This is seen through the dedicated work of our staff as they provide services compassionately and professionally to both clients and residents. |
