The Council of Priests consists of four members elected from and by the priests working in the Diocese of Townsville, plus two others appointed by the Bishop, with the Vicar General as an ex officio member. It is renewed every three years, and meets quarterly. The Bishop attends all meetings as President, and raises issues he considers important for the Diocese. The Council of Priests collaborates with other Diocesan agencies and Councils on various matters and oversees the pastoral, physical and spiritual welfare of the priests of the diocese.
